about the name
why "newstory"
When we first arrived in Las Cruces, New Mexico, we asked the Lord to give us a name for our church plant. For weeks we considered different names, but none of them felt right. So we stepped back and began to truly listen, to the heartbeat of the city, to its rhythms and people. We immersed ourselves in daily life here, learning what burdens and hopes shape this community. I (Fernando) even got a job as Hospice Chaplain to know the people of our city.
As we did, we began to see the real needs: deep poverty, widespread addiction, and a longing for good news in a place where bad news often made the most noise. In prayer, as we sought the Lord’s guidance, He impressed on our hearts the name newstory.
The Lord led us to 2 Corinthians 5:17, where He promises to transform us into a new creation—that He makes all things new. This truth from Scripture became the foundation of our name. NewStory reminds us, and others, that when we encounter Jesus, He doesn’t just step into our story, He rewrites it.
We don’t have to be defined by where we come from, where we live, or what we’ve been through. Jesus changes everything. He takes our broken chapters and transforms them into powerful testimonies of His grace, writing a new story filled with purpose, hope, and redemption.

Meet our pastors
Hello Las Cruces!
We are Pastors Fernando & Faith Morales. We are husband-and-wife team, passionate about seeing people encounter Jesus and grow in their faith.
We have served together as ordained pastors in the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel for 12 years. Our story began at Christ For The Nations Institute in Dallas, Texas, where we met, discovered our ministry calling, and later served with Youth For The Nations while completing studies in Practical Ministry and Worship & Technical Arts. From there, we served as Youth and Associate Pastors, pursued further theological training through The King’s University in Southlake, Texas, and spent more than a decade ministering to youth, young adults, and families across camps, conferences, and local churches.
As parents of three young children, we care deeply about building a Christ-centered home, investing in the next generation, and doing life in authentic community, often with friends around the table, kids in the mix, and plenty of laughter in the background.
We believe God has called us to Las Cruces, New Mexico—a city with rich history and deep spiritual roots—to plant a new church where people can encounter Jesus, grow in Scripture, and find a genuine sense of family and purpose in Him.
